About The Author

Craig A Williamson’s life story is as diverse and enriching as the topics he explores in this book. Born in 1959 in Detroit, Craig's journey began in humble beginnings living near the railroad tracks. This factory town backdrop and the tireless work ethic of his parents shaped Craig’s strong values and independent spirit. Craig is a brilliant thinker with a powerful yet simple voice.

Craig's pursuit of education set him apart as the first in his family to attend college. Combining work-study jobs, student loans, and merit scholarships, he earned an engineering degree with a business minor from Michigan State University, followed by an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston.

An accomplished athlete and a natural leader, Craig's early life was marked by his roles as perennial sports team captain. After college, he embarked on a four-month global adventure that profoundly impacted his life. Traveling with almost no money, he experienced cultures and places that most only dream of, an adventure that solidified his love for learning and travel.

Craig's professional life is equally impressive, spanning 17 years with Johnson Controls, where he rose to become a senior executive, and later, leadership roles in various companies across different industries. His business acumen led him to turn around a national engineering and construction company, operate a successful HVAC company, and make meaningful contributions in the policy world as a board member of the Washington Policy Center.

Family and faith are the cornerstones of Craig's life. A loving husband and father, he has navigated the joys and sorrows of family life, including the tragic loss of his son in 2023. These specific experiences deeply influence his perspectives.

A resident of Washington State's San Juan Islands with a second home in Scottsdale, Arizona, Craig is an avid cyclist and wilderness enthusiast. His passion for the outdoors is evident in his commitment to backpacking and kayaking. Despite his achievements, Craig has maintained a low profile, intentionally staying almost invisible on social media.

In "Regarding Things That Matter," Craig offers piercing and insightful commentary on life's most important questions. His perspectives on joy, money, energy, climate, and more are grounded in a lifetime of observation, learning, and contemplation. This book is Craig's "coming out" transition, representing his desire to inspire,  encourage, and be a blessing to others.

“Legacy is our imprint on the world. It is the reverberation of our life. It is the part of us we leave behind.”
